CITY OF COLUMBIA COOLS BOYD PLAZA WITH NEW ICE SKATING RINK

Boyd Plaza in downtown Columbia will have a cooler look and feel when Thanksgiving Day 2012 arrives. The new ice skating rink is scheduled to open to the public on November 22, 2012 at the corner of Hampton and Main Streets in Boyd Plaza. 

City of Columbia and Magic Ice U.S.A., Inc.  have partnered to bring a 50' X 63' synthetic ice- skating rink to the plaza, located in front of the Columbia Museum of Art.  The rink will be open seven days a week.  Hours of operation will be Monday - Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to10 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.   Hours of operation for the opening on Thanksgiving will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The rink will be closed on Christmas Day.

Skating fees will be $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 12 and under.  Special senior and military discounts will be offered.  Reservations will be taken for large groups planning to visit the rink.

The rink will remain open until January 6, 2013.
