Dreher Island State Recreation Area is located on Lake Murray, a 50,000-acre reservoir in the Midlands. The park consists of three islands linked to the mainland by a causeway and two bridges.
Its 348 acres and 12 miles of shoreline provide guests with a variety of outdoor water recreation opportunities. The park offers lakeside camping, picnicking, lakeside villas and a nature trail.
Camping Information: Two lakefront camping areas have scenic views and easy access to the shoreline of Lake Murray. Ninety-seven paved sites may be used by both RVs and tents, while 15 sites are for tent campers only.
Each site has water and electrical hook-ups and a picnic table. Many sites accommodate RVs up to 45 feet, others up to 30 feet.
All sites are convenient to hot showers and restrooms.
Lodging Information: Each cabin includes linens, basic cooking and eating utensils, heat, air conditioning, microwave, color television, automatic coffee maker, screened porch, outside grill and picnic table.
A three-bedroom villa is user friendly for the physically impaired.
Pets are not permitted in villas or villa areas.
Park Hours: Mon.-Sun: 6 a.m.-6 p.m. (extended to 9 pm during Daylight Savings Time).
Office Hours: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. (extended to 8 p.m. in peak season)

From I-26: Take exit 91 (Chapin exit- Hwy. 48) to Chapin. Turn right on Hwy 76 for 1/8 mile, then turn left onto St. Peter's Church Rd (Hwy. 29) for 4 mi. Turn left onto Dreher Island Rd (Hwy 231) for approximately 3 mi. Then turn onto State Park Rd for 2 mi. to the park entrance.
