The W. Gordon Belser Arboretum, totaling 6.5 acres, is located near the University of South Carolina campus, in Columbia, South Carolina. The arboretum was a gift from William Gordon Belser, a neighborhood homeowner and real estate developer. It is a natural area now used for teaching biology.
The Arboretum is open for Monthly Open House the 3rd Sunday of every month from 1-4pm, except for the December Open House, which is on the 2nd Sunday from 1-4pm. Greeters will be at each of the entrance gates to provide handouts and answer questions.
The Arboretum is also open for every Wednesday from 8am-2pm Walkers and Work Crew, weather permitting (not during lightning storms or heavy rain). Entrance on Wednesdays is through the Bloomwood Road Gate only. Note that on Wednesdays our maintenance crews may be operating landscaping equipment.
