Ashley Byrd, President/Executive Director, Miss South CarolinaColumbia, SC - (November 1, 2010) - The Columbia Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce the arrival of the 2011 Miss South Carolina Pageant.  Columbia won the bid to host the event over Greenville and Spartanburg.  In a press conference held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, pageant officials said the 2011 Miss South Carolina Pageant will be held at the newly renovated Township Auditorium in downtown Columbia.

The pageant is set for June 25 - July 2, 2011.  The winner crowned at the 2011 Miss South Carolina Pageant will receive a $20,000 scholarship.  A schedule of events, that will include visits to Fort Jackson and tours of local attractions, is currently being prepared and will be released once dates have been confirmed.

The 2011 Miss SC Pageant is expected to bring approximately 1500 room nights to downtown Columbia.  The economic impact of this event is $630,000, but that number is expected to increase.

Ric Luber, president/CEO for the Columbia Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau says it took teamwork to win the bid for the event.  "It was a great collaborative effort involving the city of Columbia, Richland County and the University of South Carolina.  It was clear to all of us the positive impact this event will have on our community and creating a competitive bid was a huge goal and it proved to be successful," Luber said.
