Riverbanks ZOOfari will take place on Friday, September 30 at 7:00 pm. The annual event offers those who are wild about wildlife the chance to support Riverbanks Zoo and Garden while enjoying the ambiance of the park after hours and getting a palate-pleasing fill of cool cocktails and mouth-watering munchies. Throughout the night, guests can sample a variety of culinary classics---everything from grilled shrimp and chicken skewers to portabella mushroom sliders and s'mores.
Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind silent and live auction items including a private Brew at the Zoo for 10 people and a weekend getaway to the Windy City where you'll visit Riverbanks' former sea lions at Chicago's Brookfield Zoo and get a behind-the-scenes tour of their new home.
"ZOOfari offers a unique, all-inclusive evening in the Zoo with intimate tours and up-close animal encounters; and most importantly, it provides a great service to the animals that call Riverbanks home,' said Lochlan Baskin, events manager at Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. "All proceeds from the event will go directly to the care of our animals here at the Zoo.'
Woyate West African Drum and Dance Company will help set the tone for ZOOfari with live performances throughout the evening.
A limited number of tickets will be sold. Admission is $50 for Riverbanks members, $60 for the general public and $70 on the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.riverbanks.org/ or at the Zoo's ticket booth. ZOOfari will take place rain or shine.
Riverbanks ZOOfari is a fundraiser hosted by Riverbanks Society, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the needs of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. All proceeds help care for the animals at Riverbanks. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.
