The last few weeks of summer are closing, and fall is just around the corner. But that doesn't mean things are slowing down in Columbia. Actually, they're just heating up with students back in town and fall events kicking off! Here are the highlights of what's hot this weekend, August 24 - 26:


FRIDAY, AUGUST 24

Famously Hot Music Festival at Finlay Park

'Saying Goodbye'
at the Nickelodeon

at McKissick Museum
This new exhibit displays historic USC artifacts that explain how Gamecock athletics have impacted students' college experiences. Free admission.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 25

3rd Annual Summer Celebration of Water at Riverfront Park
The best way to spend a Famously Hot day is to enjoy the cool rivers surrounding Columbia. This family-friendly event features water-themed activities from a splash zone for children and tubes for adults. Free Admission.

Boiled Peanut Day at South Carolina State Farmers Market
Celebrate the holiday honoring Boiled Peanut Day at the farmers market as they give out free boiled peanuts. Plus, taste and shop for local South Carolina foods, produce, hand-made art and more.
11:00 am - 2:00 pm (Free peanuts while supplies last)

5th Annual Palmetto Peanut Boil at The Loose Cockaboose
Share your love for South Carolina's official state snack with a boiled peanut contest and live music at this family-friendly festival. Admission is a $5 donation to the Ronald McDonald House.

Free Sunday at CMA
Every Sunday is free, thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina. Why not stop in and check out the Carolina Chair Affair or the last weekend of the Art of Seating exhibit? Or, just walk in and be amazed by the Chihuly chandelier in the museum lobby. Free.

River Trips
