It's March! Can you believe the madness has begun? Madness as in the multitude of events kicking off in March, leading up to a Spring season full of things to do in Columbia, SC.

Between the free South Carolina State House tours, the kick off to one of the most popular St. Patrick's Day festivities in the Southeast, the "happiest 5K on the planet" and Columbia SC 63's event celebrating a milestone in Columbia's Civil Rights history, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are packed with events you wouldn't want to miss.

FRIDAY, MARCH 1


Official Kick-Off to St. Pat's at the Five Points Fountain

Craftsmen's Spring Classic Art & Craft Festival at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds
It's the 30th annual art & craft festival, bringing works from traditional to contemporary, functional to whimsical and decorative to fun and funky. Visit with the artisans as you shop and learn about each craft's history and evolution. Tickets: $7 adults, $1 children - admission good through Sunday.

2013 SC High School league Basketball Finals at Colonial Life Arena

Swan Lake at the Koger Center

South Carolina State House Tours at the South Carolina State House
While open on weekdays, the South Carolina State House is now open on the first Saturday of every month.  Learn about the history and the people who have made the State House and the state what it is today. March for Meals at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden 
Lace up your sneakers and dash out to the Zoo to "March" for Meals on Wheels! Register at the Zoo tonight from 4:30 - 7:00 pm or tomorrow morning starting at 6:15 am.

The Color Run 5K at Finlay Park 
Columbia, SC welcomes the "Happiest 5K on the Planet!" Run through downtown Columbia and, at each kilometer, be sprayed with a different color. You'll leave the race looking like you just ran through a rainbow. Didn't yet register? You can register at Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center until 7:00 pm on Friday or Saturday morning at Finlay Park. We Shall Not Be Moved: A Commemoration of Student Activism & 50th Anniversary of Edwards v. SC at Zion Baptist Church and Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center 
Part of the 50th Anniversary of the 1963 Civil Rights movement, there will be a commemorative church service at 10:45 am at Zion Baptist Church, where part of the student activist march took place.
