Find Your Happy at the South Carolina State Fair
It’s time for rides, concerts, fair food and more at the 2013 South Carolina State Fair! The twelve-day extravaganza kicked off Wednesday, and this week features concerts from entertainment’s big names. Here’s this week’s concert lineup: What’s new at the South Carolina State Fair this year? Lots! New foods include Radical Dogs (Jalapeno Corn Dog, Mr. Elvis Corn Dog, Mighty Chocolate Chip Corn Dog and Corn Dog Puppies), the Redneck Burger (cheese, bacon, fried bologna, baked beans, potato sticks and more on a bun), the Mac & Cheese Burger and Fried Pizza on a Stick. That’s right, FRIED PIZZA ON A STICK!

This year’s state fair also features local and regional bands, like Say Brother, at Scene SC’s “3 Nights, 9 Bands” on the WIS Stage. Plus, Nickelodeon Theatre teamed up with the State Fair this year to start the Indie Grits Film Blitz, a 48-hour film competition filmed on the State Fairgrounds. Kick Back at Tin Roof with Montgomery Gentry
This Friday night, unpack your boots and cowboy hats to celebrate the classic country sounds of Montgomery Gentry and Brent Cobb at the always lively Tin Roof. Enjoy a night of boot-tappin’ tunes, dancing and drinks with some of country music’s greatest artists. $24.50
Holy schnitzel! It’s time for Oktoberfest. You can celebrate German culture this Saturday at Incarnation Lutheran Church’s Oktoberfest Columbia. The popular festival offers authentic German food, pastries, beer and entertainment along with children’s activities and real oompah bands to guarantee the full German experience. Free Admission.

Remember the Civil Rights Movement
Civil Rights Sundays at Nickelodeon Theatre are a part of the Columbia SC 63 initiative to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights movement of 1963. This Civil Rights Sunday features the film, Black Power Mixtape, a documentary by Swedish journalists about the Black Power movement.
