The New Artistic Hot Spot
Find inspiration and tap into your creative side this weekend by exploring Columbia's unique arts scene. Check out anatomically and medically inspired pieces for free at the exhibit Arte Corporis: Exploring the Anatomical Body. Stick around the University of South Carolina campus for Southern Exposure: Transforming the Concert Experience with Karel Dohnal and Earsight Duo Friday night. Take the kids to see "Aladdin" on Saturday or meet up with some friends for the Freeway Music Festival. See the models "strut their junk" at Runaway Runway, the recycled design competition and fashion show Saturday night. Newberry Opera House has a weekend full of shows with The Oak Ridge Boys on Saturday and Blood, Sweat, & Tears featuring Bo Bice on Sunday. Columbia Open Studios is back this weekend, offering you the chance to go on an art crawl across the Midlands and visit with the individual artists in their personal studios. Let's not forget the art of dance! The Capital City Shag Extravaganza VII is being held Friday through Sunday. Finally, you can catch performances of "Peter and the Starcatcher" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" all weekend long.
