Black History Month
Take a Columbia SC 63 walking tour down Main Street to learn about Columbia's role in the Civil Rights Movement. Take a trip to The Nick for their Black Stories Series as they screen Freedom Riders, The Black Power Mixtape 1967 - 1975, Fruitvale Station and The Fits throughout the month. Visit Historic Columbia's Mann-Simons Site for a tour or one of three installments of theLunch & Learn Series honoring Black History Month - Neither Citizen nor Slave: Free Black Columbians Before the Civil War, Absolute Slaves: Race, Law and Society in Antebellum South Carolina or Modjeska Simkins and the Fight for Educational Equality. Or, join in for Second Sunday Roll: Homeplaces, Workplaces, Resting Places: An African American Heritage Sites Tour. Finally, don't miss an inspiring performance by Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Practice your country twang for Corey Smith and Luke Bryan and Brett Eldredge. Take your Sharp Dressed Man to see ZZ Top. Get swept up in symphonic sounds and come face to face with the talented musicians through the live video feed as SC Philharmonic Presents "Up Close and Personal." Multiple Grammy-nominated artists are set to take the stage at Colonial Life Arena for Winter Jam 2017.
Tap your toes as Broadway in Columbia Presents "Annie" and "Riverdance" or catch "Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet." Laugh until your sides hurt at Katt Williams and release your inner child at Monster Jam.

Eat & Drink
Pop into Bourbon Oasis for the final few days of this year's Tiki Week. Sit down for a community meal on the farm at the February Harvest Dinner. Warm your body and soul at The Palladium Society's 2017 Chili Cook-Off. Wash it all down with a craft brew at River Rat Brewery's Oyster Roast and BBQ, the Smoke and Beer Festival or the World Beer Festival.
Out and About
Kick February off with First Thursday on Main. Then, enjoy local food, live entertainment and a scavenger hunt through the galleries at Arts & Draughts. Ya-Ya! Don your Mardi Gras best for Mardi Gras Columbia Parade & Music Festival 2017 at City Roots. Make time to meet and shop from local tastemakers each Saturday at Soda City Market.
Don't miss your last chance to see CUT! Costume and the Cinema and Fame and Fashion: The Photography of John Engstead at Columbia Museum of Art. Check out South Carolina State Museum's latest exhibit, Savage Ancient Seas, featuring more than 50 prehistoric marine fossils. While there, be sure to see Art: A Collection of Collections, App4That: Interactive Exhibit on the Progression of Technology and South Carolina and the Great War. Experience the personal stories of SC survivors, victims and liberators at Holocaust Remembered. Take a (free!) tour of the South Carolina State House.
